Thailand Permanent Residency (PR)

Thailand Permanent Residency allows foreigners to live in Thailand permanently without yearly extensions.
At Thailand Global Visa, we guide applicants through eligibility checks, documentation, and all required procedures for submitting a successful PR application.

Permanent Residency Overview

Thailand Permanent Residency offers the right to reside in Thailand indefinitely without needing annual visa extensions.
Successful applicants receive a Permanent Residency Book and an Alien Registration Book, similar to a Thai national ID.

Permanent Residents benefit from simplified work permit procedures, the ability to be listed on a Thai house registration document, and various legal advantages regarding property, family sponsorship, and long-term stability in Thailand.

To qualify, applicants must demonstrate strong ties to Thailand and meet Immigration Bureau requirements, including multiple years of continuous legal stay.

Visa Types & General Requirements

To apply for Thailand PR, applicants must meet strict conditions:

• Must hold 3 consecutive years of unbroken 1-year extensions issued by Thai Immigration.
• Cannot apply if staying on a Multiple Entry Non-Immigrant Visa issued abroad — only yearly extensions qualify.
• PR holders may add their name to a Thai house registration, offering property-related protections.
• PR holders must still obtain a work permit to be employed, though the process is simpler.
• The Residency Permit never expires, but re-entry permits are required if leaving Thailand.
• Every five years, PR holders must report to the police station for a mandatory stamp.

PR status can be revoked if requirements are violated.
