Thailand Visa Overstay Rules
Overstaying a Thai visa is illegal and can lead to fines, deportation, and long-term entry bans. We help you regularize your situation legally, including a special service for overstays under 90 days.
1
Understanding Overstay in Thailand
Overstaying your permitted stay in Thailand is considered a legal offence.
The consequences depend on the length of the overstay:
• Daily fine of 500 THB for short overstays
• Deportation for severe overstays
• Long-term bans from re-entering Thailand
Even a short overstay can cause problems with future visas, Thai Immigration, and international travel.
We strongly advise correcting your visa situation as soon as possible.
2
Overstay Penalties & Entry Bans
Penalties vary based on how long you have overstayed:
Fines:
• 500 THB per day
• Maximum fine of 20,000 THB
If you surrender voluntarily to Immigration:
• Overstay < 90 days → fine only (no ban)
• Overstay 90+ days → 1-year ban
• Overstay > 1 year → 3-year ban
• Overstay > 3 years → 5-year ban
• Overstay > 5 years → 10-year ban
If you are caught by authorities:
• Overstay 1 day → fine and possible detention
• Overstay 90+ days → immediate deportation + 5-year ban
• Overstay > 1 year → 10-year ban
We can advise you on the safest legal pathway depending on your situation.
